Almost all of the following label shapes can be manufactured as a either a woven or printed label.
Main Label Most often sewn in the neck back of a shirt or dress, main labels are also found on the inside back of the waist on bottoms, including pants and skirts. The main label will almost always feature the brand identity, and may also include care instructions and content information.
Flag Label A very small loop label featuring brand iden tity that's sewn into the seam of jeans or at the edge of a pocket on pants or a shirt. Popular with denim garments and casual tops.
Riser Label Similar to the flag label, but sewn all around flat on the edge of a pocket seam or similar location.
Back Patch Usually a larger label (2" x 3"), the back patch is sewn on the back outside of the waist of pants or on the back pocket. (Please see the Patch section for extensive options for leather, paper and plastic back patches. In this section, we are referring to the less common creation of a fabric back patch that's woven or printed).
Care Label Also known as a "care & content label" or "CCLB," the care label is required on all garments sold in the United States and many other countries. Sometimes it is combined with the main label, but often it stands alone, sewn into the neck of shirts and dresses or the inside seam of pants and skirts, as well as bed linens and other products. The care label usually features the following information:
