Snaps: development cycle

ARTWORK As with tack buttons and rivets, Talon International needs artwork to create your snap. Our expert graphics department can create artwork, or you can submit it as either hard copy ("camera-ready art") or as a computer file in one of the graphics programs such as Adobe Illustrator. We'll let you know if we think your artwork will translate well to a snap, and offer refinements as necessary. Talon International will provide you with a paper proof, of the snap design for your approval before samples are made.

SAMPLES A mould must be created for stamped caps of snaps. We will provide you with 30-40 actual snap samples for your final approval. Please note the following approximate costs and time schedules:

Stamped Cap Snap Nylon Snap Mold Cost: $150.00 -- Lead time/Samples: 2-3 wks.
Injection Mold Die: $600.00 -- Lead time/samples: 4-5 wks

PRODUCTION Your snaps will be manufactured in approximately 2-3 weeks, not including shipping.

SHIPPING Many Talon International snaps are manufactured in Asia, so shipping time must be considered.

Air Freight 3-5 days.

Ocean Freight At least 3 weeks, possibly longer, (but much more affordable than air freight).

PACKAGING Delivered in poly-bags containing 1,000 - 5,000 pieces. Each of the 4 components is delivered in a separate poly-bag.

PRICING Snaps are typically priced between $.025 and $.065 each, depending on their size and the materials you choose. Snaps have very low price elasticity, which means that even very large orders do not achieve a large price break. The minimum order quantity is 10,000 units.
